Sonex Delivery is a delivery service operating in Algeria. This policy explains what the Sonex Delivery app collects, why, who handles it, and what you can do about it.
It covers the mobile app only. It applies to customers, delivery drivers, and shop owners, with the differences noted where they matter.
What we collect
Information you give us when you create an account:
- Name
- shown to the shop and the driver handling your order. Also used to manage your account and to keep the service secure and prevent fraud.
- Email address
- used for sign-in, your account, and order notifications. Also used to keep the service secure and prevent fraud.
- Phone number
- so the driver, the shop, and support can reach you about an order. Also used to manage your account and to prevent fraud.
- Password
- stored only in hashed form on our servers; we never see it.
- Account identifier (user ID)
- a random unique ID assigned to your account. It is used to run and secure your account, to prevent fraud, and, together with your role, to link usage events and crash reports to your account for analytics.
- Photos
- optional. A profile picture and, for shops, pictures of products. They help a driver or shop recognise who they are dealing with and let customers see products. A photo is uploaded only when you choose to use it.
Information created by using the service:
- Delivery and pickup addresses
- including any location you select on the map. Used to run your orders.
- Order details
- the shops, items, prices, and delivery fees for each order.
- Ratings and reviews
- you leave for drivers and shops, and those left for you. They are shown to other users of the app.
- Payment and settlement records
- Sonex Delivery settles in cash. We record what is owed and what has been settled; we do not collect card or bank details.
Information collected automatically:
- Location
- see the section below. It is required for the app to work, and it is used only to run the service.
- Notification token
- a device identifier used only to deliver push notifications to your device. It is optional: if you turn notifications off, the app still works.
- Crash and diagnostic reports
- a stack trace, device model, operating system version, app version and, when an error occurs, a screenshot of the screen you were on. Used to keep the app working and to analyse its stability.
- Usage events
- which screens are opened and which actions are taken, tied to your account identifier and your role (customer, driver, or shop). Used to run the app and for analytics.
The app does not show ads and does not use the Android advertising ID.
Location, specifically
The app needs your precise location to work, because a delivery service cannot work without it. If you do not allow location access, you will not be able to place or receive orders. Location is used only to run the service, never for advertising or profiling. What it does with it depends on who you are.
- Customers
- your location is read when you are choosing a pickup or delivery address, to centre the map and suggest a nearby address.
- Drivers
- while you are online, your location is used to match you with orders near you. It is read only while the app is open.
- Shops
- location is used to place your shop on the map for nearby customers.
The app does not request background location permission. It cannot read your location when it is closed, and it does not show your live location to customers or shops.
Addresses you type or pin are sent to OpenStreetMap to convert between an address and map coordinates. OpenStreetMap receives the coordinates or the search text, but nothing that identifies you. Map tiles are also loaded from OpenStreetMap.
Camera and notifications
- Camera
- used to scan the QR code that confirms a delivery at handover, and to take photos for your profile picture or for product pictures in a shop catalog. QR scans happen on your device and only the code is read; nothing from a scan is recorded or stored. A photo is uploaded only when you choose to use it as a profile or product picture. The camera never runs in the background.
- Notifications
- used for order updates: a shop accepting, a driver being assigned, or a delivery arriving. You can turn these off in your device settings; the app still works, but you will not be told when something changes.
Who handles your data
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes, such as advertising, marketing, or profiling. The people and services below see your data only as described.
- Other people in your order
- a driver sees the customer name, phone number, and delivery address for the order they are delivering. A shop sees the customer name and the order. A customer sees the driver's rating, and their name and phone number where the service provides them.
- Google (Firebase)
- a service provider that processes data on our behalf for push notifications, crash reporting, and usage analytics. Your account identifier and role are attached to analytics and crash reports.
- Sentry
- a service provider that processes data on our behalf for error monitoring. Reports include a stack trace, device details, your account identifier, and a screenshot of the screen where the error happened.
- OpenStreetMap
- a service provider for map tiles and address lookup, as described above.
- Authorities
- where we are legally required to, or to investigate fraud or a safety incident.
Our service providers use your data only to provide their service to us. Some of them process data outside Algeria. Where that happens we rely on their contractual data-protection commitments.
How long we keep it
- Account information
- until you delete your account.
- Order and settlement records
- 5 years after the order is completed, because we are required to keep transaction records.
- Crash and diagnostic reports
- 5 years.
- Usage analytics
- 5 years.
When you delete your account we remove your profile and personal details. Order records that we are legally required to keep are retained without your name and contact details attached.
Your rights and deleting your account
Under Algerian law 18-07 on the protection of natural persons in the processing of personal data, you can:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in the app.
- Delete your account and, with it, your personal data. You can do this in the app under Settings → Delete account, or without installing the app at sonexdelivery.com/account-deletion.
- Object to your data being used for analytics.
- Complain to the national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, contact us at sonex.delivery.dz@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Your session token is held in the device's encrypted storage — the Android Keystore — rather than in ordinary app storage.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Children
Sonex Delivery is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app before it takes effect.
